The European Commission has committed to a European Care Strategy and Commissioner Dubravka Šuica has started work in this area.

The EPP Group in the European Parliament has been campaigning for this since April 2020 and is delighted to welcome Colin Scicluna, Head of Cabinet of Commissioner Dubravka Šuica, and Stecy Yghemonos, Director of Eurocarers, to join Frances Fitzgerald MEP, Vice Chair of the EPP Group and Co-ordinator of the Women's Rights and Gender Equality Committee in the European Parliament, and Dennis Radtke MEP, Co-ordinator of the Employment and Social Affairs Committee for this event.

Let's talk about reforming and improving the care sector - for children, older persons, persons with a disability or long-term illness, as well as their formal and informal carers. This exchange will centre around this care provision and will focus on: the opportunity to harness EU funds to improve care services and infrastructure; the opportunity for citizens to avail of growing care sector jobs, while promoting gender equality in the sector; and the need for targets and data to reform and improve the care sector.
